Plywood, acrylic paint
I believe that furniture, much like fine art, can and should elicit emotional responses. I am guided by my philosophy that furniture holds an intense power over people, spaces, and really, our entire lives. I am constantly torn between being a maximalist and a minimalist, but I have so much fun in trying to find a happy medium via my work, which features an array of forms, colors, and pared down geometries that anyone can recognize. I am forever indebted to my discoveries of the Memphis Milano Group, the De Stijl movement, and of course, the Bauhaus (ideally, a more inclusive, woman-friendly Bauhaus) and I am constantly trying to discover and highlight design that has been left behind or buried behind the very white, very male, design industry.
