As a self-taught artist operating within multiple disciplines, the intent behind my design is to serve as communal sites for inner and collective harmony. At first glance, my approach can be considered naive and minimal due to the lack of formal training. After considering the emotion and technique invested into the work, the narrative becomes amplified. As a contemporary artist of African descent, I find it very important to study various facets of art while experimenting with my cultural background in order to produce genuine narratives that my community can relate to . Operating within sculpture and furniture design has allowed me to channel my voice through various mediums, including steel and wood. Both disciplines have often informed each other in the process of defining my practice.
